Internships, Fellowships, and Public Health Residencies

Employers consistently emphasize that hands-on experience is one of the most valuable assets an applicant can offer. While the Practicum, or other capstone project, provides a solid foundation, many employers encourage candidates to further enhance their qualifications through internships or fellowships. To support this desire, we have created these pages to present many of the available internships and fellowships that might be appropriate for our students.

Note that many government opportunities have either "disappeared," or are on pause. If you can still access the application and/or application submission portal, go ahead and submit your application. Do not assume the application deadline will be extended because of the pause. Expect many government or private-government partnership opportunities to disappear.

We have divided these opportunities into the following categories (either click the links below, or select the subtabs in the dropdown menu for this tab):

Public Health
Dental Public Health

Environmental & Climate Health
Health Administration
Health Professions Education
Kinesiology
Nursing

These categories tend to overlap, so don't limit your perusal to just one category. The opportunities listed are just some of the hundreds of internships and fellowships funded by the government and private sector organizations.

Zintellect - powered by the Oak Ridge Associated Universities - keeps track of many of these opportunities. Go to https://zintellect.com/ and input 'public health' (without the quotation marks) or similar phrases to find even more opportunities suited for you.

Also check with your local public health department or local health networks. Many local departments and institutions offer fellowships and/or internships.
