How long is the program & what is expected?

The program consists of eight live, one-hour sessions with associated on-demand modules.  Check out the Agenda tab for more information on each specific session.
Program expectations:
Arrive ready-to-work on time at 12:00 p.m. MST on each meeting date.
Participate fully either in person or via ZOOM throughout each session.
Complete all facilitated sessions and online modules.
Complete all homework in the on-demand modules by the due date as the completed work guides research plan development

The TLC will provide lunch for each in-person meeting session.

What is expected of me after I complete the program?

Following the completion of the program as a SoTL Scholar, you will be expected to:
Record a 2-3 minute video detailing your research plan and your timeline to complete your plan and write about your findings for publication.
Serve as a mentor to faculty colleagues in their pursuit of developing and implementing a SoTL research project plan in their pursuit to publish.

Do I need to get approval from my Dean or department chair to participate?

The TLC will contact your supervisor with your completed application. Be sure to notify your supervisor to expect this TLC email. (Note: the January 31st deadline applies only to your portion of the application.  The TLC will seek your supervisor’s approval as the final step in your application.)

By electronically signing the completed application, your supervisor endorses your participation in the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL) Development Scholars Track, and agrees that you are able to meet the program’s expectations as described.

I can't make one of the sessions, what should I do?

If you are unable to make one of the sessions, you will be provided an archived recording. The TLC will accept a short paragraph synopsis in place of attendance of the live seminar. However, you must complete the homework as assigned.

Please communicate any hardships with the TLC during the program, tlc@atsu.edu

How many people will be selected for the program?

The TLC will select up to 10 faculty to participate. Assuming that there is an eligible applicant, each school or college will have at least one faculty participant in the program.

Can I apply if I previously completed the Academic Coaching & Writing Initiative?

Yes!  The TLC encourages every interested faculty to apply!  If you are an ACWI Scholar, you must outline a NEW project in your SoTL Scholars application.

Specifically, Q. 3. Please provide a short description (if available) of a research topic/question you would like to develop/investigate over the course of the SoTL program.

Who can apply?

All ATSU faculty are eligible to apply for this program! It is not a requirement to be a full time faculty member to participate.

Will it be offered again?

The TLC will archive specific components of the SoTL Development Scholars Program. It is the intention of the TLC to run another version of this program following successful completion of the first cohort group of scholars.
