Welcome to A.T. Still University’s University Writing Center (UWC), a free academic support service for currently enrolled ATSU students. Our goal is to help you become a better writer in the health care professions.
The UWC offers:
How To Submit a Document for Review or Ask Questions:
Create a new email for each submission addressed to writingcenter@atsu.edu. We encourage you to use your official school email address so that your email is not flagged as spam.
If you need ESL assistance, type ATTN: ESL in the subject line of the email.
Attach your MS Word file, which you should have proofread first, and include a title page for assignments.
Provide in the body of your email:
Your program name;
The type of submission (discussion post, assignment, final project, etc.);
Which format, APA or AMA style, you prefer;
If APA, coaches will review your paper and use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th ed.);
If AMA, coaches will review your paper and use the AMA Manual of Style, 11th Edition;
Special instructions necessary for your writing coach to provide you with an appropriate review.
Reminders:
You are responsible for the quality of all written work. You should proofread returned papers carefully and revise your papers before you submit them to your instructor. An instructor may have specific instructions for an assignment, so remember that takes priority.
Coaches review documents in the order they receive them. Coaches return documents fewer than 20 pages in 24 hours; 20-49 pages in 48 hours; and over 50 pages within 72 hours.
You must submit Microsoft Word documents. WE DO NOT REVIEW FILES IN POWERPOINT, PUBLISHER, PDF, GOOGLE DOCs, OR OTHER FORMATS.
Coaches review documents only once. If you are submitting a document that you add to over time, please let us know specifically which sections are new within the document.
Each student is responsible for reviewing their own responses to discussion posts; the UWC will review only initial discussion posts.
The UWC is open from 12 a.m. Mondays to 8 p.m. Saturdays (Central Time), and writing coaches return reviewed assignments within the designated turnaround time. You will have time to edit your assignments and still meet your instructors' deadlines.
The UWC does not accept papers from 8 p.m. Saturdays until 12 a.m. Mondays, Central Time, because most assignments that come through the UWC are due Sunday evenings; therefore, on Monday morning when the UWC reopens, you may no longer need a review. Coaches will ask that you submit assignments on Monday (instead of Sunday) to avoid confusion and unnecessary reviews by the UWC.
The UWC accepts papers from 12 AM Central Time on Mondays through 7:59 PM Central Time on Saturdays. Papers submitted from 8 PM Saturday through 11:59 PM Sunday will not be reviewed but can be resubmitted when the center reopens. See below for additional closure times.
