Department of Public Health - Student Corner: Internships & Fellowships

Resources for MPH, MPH-D, Dental Certificate, OT certificate, and Dual DMD/MPH-D and MPH-SOMA students | A.T. Still University - College of Graduate Health Studies

Internships, Fellowships, and Residencies

Employers consistently emphasize that hands-on experience is one of the most valuable assets an applicant can offer. While the Practicum, or other capstone project, provides a solid foundation, many employers encourage candidates to further enhance their qualifications through internships or fellowships. To support this desire, we have created these pages to present many of the available internships and fellowships that might be appropriate for our students.

We have divided these opportunities into the following categories (either click the links below, or select the subtabs in the dropdown menu for this tab):
(See also an opportunity for leadership training below)

Public Health
Dental Public Health

Environmental & Climate Health
Health Administration
Health Professions Education (in progress)
Kinesiology
Nursing

These categories tend to overlap, so don't limit your perusal to just one category. The opportunities listed are just some of the hundreds of internships and fellowships funded by the government and private sector organizations.

Zintellect - powered by the Oak Ridge Associated Universities - keeps track of many of these opportunities. Go to https://zintellect.com/ and input 'public health' (without the quotation marks) or similar phrases to find even more opportunities suited for you.

Also check with your local public health department or local health networks. Many local departments and institutions offer fellowships and/or internships.

NACHC’s leadership subscription service is designed to provide a consistently spaced leadership development journey across nine months of the 2025 calendar year.

The 2025 subscription program is grounded in a participant’s individual leadership skills and behaviors, making this cohort-based program uniquely personal. Through nine monthly modules, a personal leadership assessment, and one-on-one coaching, participants will explore their unique tendencies through the power of neuroscience to enhance their leadership performance.

The monthly faculty-led sessions are enhanced through the participant’s completion of a SurePeople PRISM® assessment and one-on-one coaching. This tool generates a personalized report on leadership behavior from the perspective of neuroscience. Results are unique to the individual participant; no two PRISM® maps are alike, making this cohort-based program uniquely personal. Participants will explore their individual assessment results during a one-on-one coaching session scheduled with a PRISM® certified coach, gaining valuable insight into their personal leadership strengths and opportunities for growth that will be further enriched through the monthly content sessions.
