What is Delta Omega?
The Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health was founded in 1924 at Johns Hopkins University within the School of Hygiene and Public Health to promote the graduate study of public health, and to recognize outstanding achievement in the new field.

Graduating student applicants
The CGHS Department of Public Health is excited to invite you to apply to Delta Omega - Honorary Society in Public Health. Our Chapter is Delta Gamma.
Student inductees must graduate sometime in the 2023-2024 Academic Year (the Practicum must be 100% complete by July 7, 2024). Applicants will be judged on their record of service as well as their academic achievements.
We may induct up to 20% of the graduating class each year, out of the top 25% of our graduates, based on cumulative grade point average (cGPA). So far, our top 25% have all had a 4.0 cGPA, but we encourage anyone with a cGPA of 3.9 or higher to apply.
Dues (one-time only payment). The $50 National dues for student inductees will be paid with CGHS funds. Alumni inductees will be responsible for their own $50 National dues.
The deadline for 2023-2024 graduate applicants is April 19, 2023. If you miss the deadline, or if your cGPA is not high enough, you may still apply as an alumni applicant once you have graduated (see alumni box). Applications for 2024-2025 graduates will be solicited in Spring 2025, with a deadline some time in April.
Please return your applications and letters of recommendation to:
mpresley@atsu.edu
Questions may be directed to Marsha Presley, PhD, MPH: mpresley@atsu.edu
Alumni applicants
Inductees will be judged on their record of service. For alumni, there is no academic requirement. If you are interested in applying for membership, you will need to provide a letter of recommendation from one of your volunteer experiences in addition to the application. See the attached application below.
If you just graduated in 23-24FA or SPB1, please see (and submit) the Graduate application below. If your cGPA is not high enough for the Graduate application, then you may submit an alumni application once you have graduated.
We may induct up to one-half the number of graduate inductees each year. Once this number of applicants have been chosen, any applications received after that point will be considered the following academic year. Alumni applications will be continually accepted and will be reviewed at least once each year. There is currently no set schedule for review. Applications received before April 01, 2024 will be guaranteed review for this year.
If you are accepted, there will be a one-time payment expected of $50 for National dues.
Please return your applications and letters of recommendation to: mpresley@atsu.edu.
Questions may be directed to Marsha Presley, PhD, MPH: mpresley@atsu.edu
