Open Access

This guide introduces open access publishing and how to make your own work openly available.

Open Access Week 2022

International Open Access Week was celebrated from October 24th through October 28th, 2022. Open Access Week is an opportunity for the academic and research community to continue to learn about the potential benefits of Open Access, to share what they’ve learned with colleagues, and to help inspire wider participation in helping to make Open Access a new norm in scholarship and research.

This year's theme is Open for Climate Justice. This year’s theme seeks to encourage connection and collaboration among the climate movement and the international open community. Sharing knowledge is a human right, and tackling the climate crisis requires the rapid exchange of knowledge across geographic, economic, and disciplinary boundaries.

Open Access Week at the Library

In celebration of Open Access Week 2022, the A.T. Still Memorial Library held a workshop on How to Publish Open Access and Avoid Predatory Publishers. This workshop discussed how you can publish your work in high-quality open access journals and self-archive your work in open access repositories, as well as how to identify predatory publishers and ensure your work is published in legitimate venues. See below for a recording of the presentation.
