Scholarly Writing, Referencing, and Plagiarism

The following resources will provide you an overview of scholarly writing, referencing, and plagiarism. It is your responsibility to become familiar with the AT Program policy as well as the common resources and tools often required in the AT Program (ie, EndNote, Turnitin).

  2. For an example of proper AMA style and formatting, check out the Writing Center's AMA What's New and Quick Guide
  3. The ATSU Writing Center (Links to an external site.) is a free academic support service that operates 24/7. The Writing Center offers:
    • Document review (papers, case studies, main discussion posts)
    • English-as-a-second language writing assistance
    • Guideline compliance checks for final dissertations
    • Review of personal statements for residency applications
    • Tutorial on the Proper Use of Sources
  4. All AT program assignments must conform with the AMA style (unless otherwise specified). Please refer to the AMA Manual of Style (Links to an external site.)
  5. The plagiarism.org (Links to an external site.) website provides an overview of plagiarism and the proper use of citations
    • Different modules allow students to explore proper paraphrasing and citing as well as check their work for plagiarism. (Links to an external site.)
  6. It is recommended that students use a reference manager program during their course of study. Examples of such programs include EndNote, Paperpile, Zotero, and Medeley.
  7. Turnitin is plagiarism detection software that the AT program uses for certain student writing assignments. To learn more about Turnitin, click here (Links to an external site.)
