Evidence Based Practice: 5 A's

Assessment of the EBP process is critical to learning. Ask yourself the following questions: 

1. Did I develop a well-formulated, answerable question using the PICO format? 
2. Am I able to determine the sources of evidence?
3. Have I critically appraised all aspects of the evidence? (validity, reliability & relevance)
4. Have I considered all 4 aspects of EBP in the application of the evidence? (Clinical experience, evidence, practice context & patient values)
5. Has the process translated to better clinical outcomes?
